Academic Career And How Do Application Essay

¶ … academic career and how do you think your goals will impact society?

Majoring in Business Economics at UCLA during this juncture of commercial history has been a privilege. The world has changed so much, as it has become increasingly global, interdependent, and reliant upon more effective technology and communications. Upon graduation, I hope that I will be able to put what I have learned into practice, not simply in terms of making money, but also to create a more effective way to bridge cultural misunderstandings and to make diversity an asset to any organization of which I am a leader.

A firmly believe that ethics and enterprise are not mutually incompatible notions. In fact, capitalism has proved to be an effective form of outreach to nations such as China, and enabled the nations of Europe to form a common bond. As nations grow interconnected, they also gain a mutual self-interest in protecting the environment, maintaining world peace, and learning more about one another's cultures.

I see myself, either working for a company, or perhaps embarking upon my own new business and making diversity education a critical part of the workplace environment. Continuing international education must be a cornerstone of every competitive company. To do business with the world, it is necessary to be fluent in a variety of languages, cultural assumptions, and issues that transcend borders.

Given the environmental concern that has risen in the past decade, making ethical treatment of the environment by industry must also be a priority of an organization. This is sound business sense as well as ethics, as is evident by the success of companies such as Toyota. Toyota's use of hybrid technology has enabled it to gain an edge on its competition. Thinking outside the box, thinking about what the world will look like in the future, a maintaining a balance between self-interest, shareholder profits and sustainability will enable society to become a better place, because of the efforts of truly ethical entrepreneurs.
